Sydney comes up trumps again

Sydney has been ranked number one city in the world for a record ninth time in the Conde Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards at a star-studded event in New York.

Minister and Donald Trump

Also at the awards ceremony was American tycoon Donald Trump.

Mr Trump said Sydney was a deserving winner.

Conde Nast Traveller's editor-in-chief Tom Wallace said it was a remarkable accolade to Sydney and Australia that the city continued to be the one which US travellers aspired to visit of any, anywhere on the globe.

"Our readers are among the most discerning and affluent US travellers and they subscribe to us for our fiercely independent assessment of destinations, summed up by our motto - truth in travel," he said.

Frequently asked travel questions during Hurricane / storm sea

To many, the 2004 Hurricane Season will leave a close association between hurricanes and Florida. But it’s important to note that a direct hit to a particular destination anywhere in the world by a major hurricane is a rare event. From 1899-1992, fifty-five hurricanes made landfall in Florida, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This translates to about one hurricane every two years in Florida in almost 100 years. "To have four strong hurricanes hit the same state, in the same year, is almost unheard of. The last time four hurricanes hit the same state was in 1886 in Texas. I doubt very seriously if it will happen again, at least not in my lifetime,” Max Mayfield, Director, National Hurricane Centre. Staff Profile - Belinda Lee

My name is Belinda Lee and I am a Corporate Multi-skilled Travel Specialist within the Travelogic Team.

I have been with Travelogic since 1997, and have enjoyed working in all facets of the company. As well as consulting, I have worked in the account and administration departments as well as supporting the After-hours Emergency Assistance Service.

I have worked in the Travel Industry since I left school in 1992 and was fortunate enough to spend time travelling extensively in the early 1990's. This experience was invaluable taking me to many exotic and interesting destinations first hand.

Previously to working at Travelogic, I was employed by Australian Resorts - they are the owner of five of our beautiful Queensland Islands. Being based on Dunk Island, I acquired a real taste for island living. From this experience I learned a great deal about the barrier Reef and surrounding area.

I work part-time in a "job-share" environment as I recently become a Mum and my baby boy keeps me very busy on the other days.
