Directors Comment
from Claire Gray, Executive Director
Smooth sailing for Travelogic.
Recently we were forced to
put our "Disaster Recovery Programme" into action
due to our Internet Service Provider disconnecting us in
error. This is now fixed and an apology has been received.
What it demonstrated was how
effective our strategies and emergency planning is. We managed
to move our entire office to a temporary location, overnight,
ensuring minimal disruption to our clients.
Being an "owner
operator" business, we can pretty much do
anything. And this has been another example of how we effectively
and professionally provide a First Class Travel Management
Service.
And below is great news about
the developments with our Global Partners in the GlobalStar
Network. With Travelogic being a founding member of GlobalStar. |
GlobalStar
Travel Management to add six partners in Asia
Vera
Lye
SINGAPORE
– GlobalStar Travel Management will add six Asian partners to its
network by this year announced president and managing director
Martin Metzler.
In
Singapore after a regional meeting in Sydney, Metzler said Korea,
Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam will be six of the 20 new
countries it intends to add to its network by mid-2005.
It
currently has partners in over 30 key countries worldwide, with a
total sales volume
of over US$5 billion. The annual sales volume in Asia is now at
US$500 million but that should increase by US$100 million this year,
said Metzler. Metzler also announced a new initiative to create what
he claimed will be “a world’s first” global air fare database
of not just GDS and web fares, but specially negotiated fares.
The
database, which will sit on the Internet platform, will be ready by
the end of 2005.
In Asia,
Singapore’s Global Travel is its regional headquarters, led by
Peter Choo as its CEO.

Virgin
Blue will provide more fully flexible seats during key
business travel times for the corporate "high
flyer". This
means more seats at fully flexible fare
conditions during peak times.
The Off-Peak fare is $30 cheaper
than the Peak fare.
The
only thing that's different is that a fare upgrade, for
changes from the Off-Peak fare to the Peak fare, will apply if
there are no Fully Flexible Off-Peak fares available at the
time changes are made.
