Director's Comments: New Domestic Fares and how are you affected
We are now well into the swing of the new Qantas domestic fare structure and enjoying lower fares. All of you are showing a good understanding of the new conditions and how to benefit from them. The elimination of a minimum Saturday night stay away has to be a good thing to the business traveller. The new KIPOX fare to Melbourne represents a saving of $120 one way on it's previous Sydney-Melbourne equivalent. If you have 1,000 round trips a year, that's $240,000.

We are pleased to report that our experience with availability of the KIPOX fare has been plentiful on the trunk routes at peak times,  for travellers who can book at least 4 days in advance. This will allow most business travellers to save significantly on their airfares.

We do advise clients to be aware of no-shows that lead to total forfeiture of the fare and non availed tickets being 'forgotten about" if the trip is cancelled. At TRAVELOG!C we keep track of these un-availed tickets for our clients, ensuring no lost credits.

Please call on us if you do require any further clarification. Together we are able realise greater savings for you.

South Australia is known as the wine state of Australia for good reason! The frequency of flights to Adelaide and lack of traffic make it an ideal short break from Sydney or Melbourne.  While the Barossa and Mclaren Vale areas are quite well known a region that is definitely worth a visit is the Clare Valley. Being slightly further from the city it is much less commercial and tourist buses are rarer!

A scenic one-hour drive north of Adelaide is the town of Auburn, and from here the Main North Road continues through the villages of Watervale, Penwortham, and Sevenhill to the main town of Clare.

With a year of turbulent world affairs in everything from gigantic global corporate scandals to health scares and frightening modern precision wars, it is no wonder we have the urge to hibernate in the safety of our home & neighbourhood. But perhaps it should be the opposite, suppressing the fear and recognising that this is the perfect time to reflect and gain perspective on the human race and our global history. History, when drunk with both hands, can absorb concern and fear to deliver a tingling sensation of new perspective, excitement and even awe.

Staff Profile: Kate Pollard

Kate is a Sydney girl born and bred with a love of travel and seeing everything that the world has to offer. Of course, after visiting all these amazing places Kate is always pleased to be back in the most beautiful city in the world, her home, Sydney.

"I have been with TRAVELOG!C for a little over 3 years now and have 20 years of experience in the industry. I look after the International requirements for some of our top accounts and use a great deal of my knowledge to get the best deals and most convenient itineraries for my clients."

I have travelled extensively in my career including 3 years living in London and travelling throughout Europe. This has to be one of my best "life experiences" so far. Another particular highlight was several years ago when I embarked on a 10 day flying boat trip in Africa visiting Botswana, Malawi, Zanzibar and Tanzania.

I have a passion for France and brushed up my school French at Alliance Française before spending 3 months travelling around France. "Being in the country helped me advance so much faster and the Eurocentre, Paris was a wonderful learning experience. After a couple of months in Paris and now armed with a very good understanding of the language I headed to the Loire Valley to see how beautiful the French countryside really is".

Italy is another country who's language, people and culture I am learning more about so learning Italian is my next challenge.

I belong to a Bush Walking group and  we are headed to Vietnam in October which is going to be a very exciting country to visit and trek around.
