Craig
Smith, Executive Director says:
Passports
- ' Be Prepared'
"I recently
had a need to apply for new passports for my 5
young children....................what an
experience ! In the new world of global security
the Government has introduced several changes to
the passport application process. Its a much
more rigorous procedure where meticulous care is
required to navigate through the process with a
minimum amount of stress and time. In
particularly those that need to apply or
reapply for a child's passport need to ensure
they have proper documentation for themselves i.e.
old passport, birth certificate or certificate
of citizenship. Its the world we now live in,
but be prepared.
On
behalf of Travelogic, I would like to wish
everyone all the best of luck and happiness for
a prosperous 2006."

Qantas
Commission Cuts |
| From 1
April 2006 Qantas has announced that it will remove IATA
commission payments for Domestic and Trans Tasman fares and
reduce International commission to 5% for all published fares.
The airline is justifying the
reduction due to the heightened costs of security and the
significant increases in the cost of fuel along with the focus
on reducing operating costs across the group including selling
and distribution. |
|
| Melbourne
in March 2006
|
|
Next year will see the Commonwealth Games
being hosted in Melbourne followed directly after by the Grand Prix so from
15 March until 02 April this will
mean higher rates and a shortage of accommodation during this period, please
be aware and if possible defer non-essential travel over this time.

Upgrade to BA
Business Class |
|
British Airways is set to
invest £100 million in a major overhaul
of its longhaul business class, which
the airline’s CEO Willie Walsh claims
will be the “best in the air”. The
enhanced changes will be introduced from
mid 2006. The multimillion pound
investment will build on the success of
the airline’s existing Club World flat
bed - the industry’s first completely
flat bed in business class - and will
set new standards for the business
traveller.

Jetstar spreads its wings
|
|
Qantas has recently approved for
Jetstar to move forward with it's international route structure,
it has been suggested that they will take over the low-yielding
routes such as Honolulu and Manila and open up new ones such as
Ho Chi Minh City and Phuket. The airline is not expected to
announce its new routes before June next year.

Germany 2006 |
|
Well the draw has been made and Australia
find themselves matching
up against Croatia,
Japan and Brazil in June
next year. They have a
great chance of reaching
the second round and for
the first time in 32
years why not head to
Europe and follow them,
Travelogic can arrange
flights, accommodation
and car hire, that's 3
out of 4! Let's just
follow the mantra: "Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions
are made from something they have deep inside of them - a
desire, a dream, a vision. They have last-minute stamina,
they have to be a little faster, they have to have the
skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the
skill." -- Muhammad Ali

Merry Xmas Boeing
|
|
Qantas has
made it a very good Christmas for Boeing
after confirming an order to purchase 65
next-generation Boeing 787 Dreamliners
valued at over $13 billion, with an
option for a further 50 at $11 billion.
This deal gave Boeing its biggest order
of the year and the largest ever
commitment to buy a plane that has never
flown. Jetstar International will be the
first to gain the new aircraft.
It was a
hard fought battle for the Aussie dollar
between Airbus and Boeing with discounts
rumoured to be in the region of 40%
off the list price. Interestingly,
Qantas has shelved plans to buy any
ultra-long-range aircraft capable of
flying non-stop to London, saying
neither manufacturer met their
requirements. |

This is our exciting enhanced self booking tool
that is released this month. Enhancements allow
clients to now select from the main airline
internet sites, along with standard airline
fares and display them on a single screen. The
system can also display private fares and/or
client negotiated deals allowing the very best fares to be
displayed for Domestic and point-to-point
International trips.
It allows
online reporting on unused ticket credits
allowing for better management and control.
The system can
filter to only show your preferred suppliers
maximizing the return on your agreements and
driving policy compliance. |
