The
role of the "Travel Agent" has changed
dramatically in recent years. We have evolved from being
an "agent" of the airlines, hotel and
car hire companies to representing you. our
corporate customer.
Traditionally as
an agent we have received a "commissions"
from our supplier for distributing their products. In
many cases the old understanding was that it was
"free" to use a travel agent. In recent
times we have seen a dramatic shift, globally, airlines
have been removing commissions and in turn agents appropriately
charging for providing professional services.
The strong rumour
amongst the travel industry is that Qantas are about to
remove and/or greatly reduce commissions it pays to
agents, which is in line with the rest of the world.
This initiative will force agents to openly charge
professional service fees to replace the lost revenue.
This environment of transparency focuses attention
on understanding the value an agent can deliver and
indeed if they do not see any value, they should
not be paying.
Travelogic supports
this shift to transparency and firmly believes it
will strengthen relationships with our clients. The
basis of these relationships will be built on
transparency and adding value to our clients needs.
Currently many of our
clients are serviced on a fee based model.

Canada's
Autumn glory
|
|
For many Canadians,
"Fall" or Autumn is the favourite time of year.
After a long hot summer, the cooler evenings and natural
beauty of the changing seasons are welcomed. It is a time to
look back on summer's pleasures while raking leaves, sorting
the wood pile and generally preparing for the winter ahead.
It’s the time of family gatherings for Thanksgiving
dinner, for pumpkin and apple pie, long walks through the
golden forests and hot cinnamon apple cider.
As
Canadians are enjoying the last few weekends at their summer
cottages - by way of a prompt to prepare for the hard months
ahead - Jack Frost nips at their ears on those late
September mornings. He then turns up the thermostat for a
couple of weeks for the "Indian Summer". It’s
during this warmer weather that the Fall colour is often at
its most spectacular right across Canada. More...

new livery arrived in Legoland in May. At the
same time the Finnair Lego Boeing MD-11 with
Moomin character designs which had been
"operating" to the airport since 1994
was retired. The Legoland airport has been
designed after Billund Airport, located
