AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT......BOOK AHEAD!
In our 18 years of Travel Management I have never known the international travel market to be so strong.....'lucky you' I here you say. Absolutely, none of us wish to see a weak
market. The challenge is that supply is currently being completely outstripped by demand. Most of this excessive demand is being driven by the corporate market. This growth has been partially unpredicted and suppliers are scrambling to acquire new inventory. Qantas through Jetstar and Virgin Blue have both just placed significant orders for new planes, principally to feed their commitments to the international market. Emirates have announced recently that they expect to be flying thrice daily into four Australian cities by 2011, this is a 70%+ increase in current supply. These plans take often years to materialise. Similarly there are no new 5 star hotels planned to open in Sydney & Melbourne over the next 18 months. Understandably the suppliers feel justified in increasing prices in this environment. How can you minimise your exposure to this trend? There are two initiatives that Travelogic can assist you with in managing travel better; Firstly ensure you have the right corporate deals with the right suppliers i.e.. airlines, hotels and car hire companies. Secondly where ever possible encourage your executives to plan and book ahead. There are good deals to be had, albeit based on limited supply. Your Travelogic Account Manager would be happy to explore these opportunities further with you.

GlobalStar Global Sales Conference
The end of April will see our 5th GlobalStar Annual Global Sales Conference, Travelogic as the Australian partner will be sending representatives from Sales and Account Management to this forum to network with our partners and to gain a valuable insight into the travel management markets in other regions that will in turn benefit our local accounts and we will feature more on this in our May issue.

Our Executive Director, Claire Gray, continues to support the Global Management Team in developing GlobalStar as the independent Global TMC to consider alongside the wholly owned mega agencies. We look forward to updating you on the many developments after the conference in the next issue.

International cancellation fees increase follow the same rules as Domestic cancellation fees with all fees increasing by a $10 amount.

Their addition has expanded oneworld substantially, to:

Qantas Daily to the Big Apple
Qantas has announced that from 14 August 2007 their New York service will move from 5 times a week to a daily service. This is good news to many of our corporates who are frequent travellers to this destination. The service will continue to route via Los Angeles and offer the skybed on all flights.

Middle East on the March
Following on from Etihad's arrival in Australia last week, the government has announced an increase in the number of flights Emirates may operate to 84 by 2011. The deal with the United Arab Emirates will see a doubling of services between both countries, recognising the increasing significance of the Middle East as a hub into Europe and beyond.

Rugby World Cup 2007
From the 7th of September through to the final on 20th October the sporting world will descend on France where the tournament for the World's top Union playing nations will meet to fight for the Webb-Ellis trophy.

Whilst September may still seem a long way off for many, flights to Europe over this period are already showing as very busy in both the economy and business cabins so please be aware when planning business trips during this period that availability may be scarce for this reason.
