Early
May 2004 will see an upgrade
to our online travel tool - e-logic.
You will be able to view the prices of airfares at the
availability stage of the booking process, which will go
a long way to assisting your efforts to source the lowest
logical fare. We expect to see clients reduce
costs even further with this exciting development.

You
will see below, the outlook for Sydney hotel occupancy
is very high. My advice is to review your hotel
contracts now as rates will increase with demand.
Additionally, book as early as possible to secure a
room. We can always change dates later if needs be. Similarly
the demand for air travel continues to increase,
with full loads on many flights. Take some time to plan
ahead and send through your bookings to avoid
disappointment and higher travel costs.
Regards
Claire

Jetstar commits to
GDS Distribution with Sabre
Sabre Pacific has
announced a comprehensive distribution agreement
secured with Australia's newest Low Cost Carrier (LCC)
– Jetstar Airways (JQ) – providing sales and
booking capability to Sabre connected travel agents
via its world leading GDS (Global Distribution
System).
The move signifies an
immediate intention on the part of Jetstar to commit
to GDS distribution of its inventory in Australia from
the start. Inventory and Fares have been available
through Sabre GDS system from the end of February for
services commencing in May 2004.
The agreement makes
Sabre the only GDS to carry inventory for all
Australia's major airlines and low cost carriers,
making a complete selection of flight options
available to travel agents through one channel.
"Travelogic
uses the Sabre GDS for our reservations and is able to

Kids Travel - how to survive
when travelling with children
- Keep the journey as
interesting as possible. If you are travelling by car
and have a laptop - most have DVD players these days
so charge the battery, plug in some earphones and sit
the kids in the back with a 2 hour movie to watch
- Train travel is
fund and there is lots to see out the window as
the world whizzes by!
- Walking is healthy
and a great way to see the sights of the city you
are staying in. It may cost a little more but
staying within the CBD makes everything so much
easier to get to and you save on parking and other
additional transport costs.
- Alternate days for
designated activities. Mum and Dad get to do their
thing on one day (museums and other places of
interest) with the kids learning a thing or two during
the day. On alternate days the kids get lots of
activities and fun things to do. This should also help
tire them out so they will sleep well that night!
- If you are travelling
to a hotter climate, make sure the hotel has a good
sized pool which is child friendly. This will keep
them entertained for hours and a lot cooler so they
don't get hot and stressed. It will also give you a few
hours of down time to get a well earned rest in a sun
longer.
- If you can pre-book
entertainment, attractions and transport then do so.
It makes managing the holiday budget easier and
ensures you don't miss out because things have sold
out or get too busy with long queues.

The Sydney Morning Herald
"Forum" 16 March 2004
www.travelogic.com.au-
Travelogic
Travelogic,
an Australian-owned travel management company aligned
with American Express and GlobalStar Travel Management,
has significant online presence through its e-logic
self-service online reservation system. “Basically,
our take on online travel technology is that it can be a
huge cost saver. That is why we integrate it into our
suite of services” says executive director Claire
Gray. “At the end of the day, a business needs to
execute travel in a managed environment, capturing all
travel data in the one source, so we can effectively
monitor the compliance to company travel policy and
measure savings on fares and, more importantly, losses
where travellers have not taken the lowest logical fare.
“To
have this and the ability to book internet fares online
through the one source is the key to a smart solution in
business travel (the company’s motto).”
Using
the e-logic system, clients have many options, including
booking Virgin Blue and Qantas fares on the one screen,
accessing a travel management system, finding travel
data reports, an option to auto-ticket (reducing the
cost of transactions even further), or receiving
pre-trip authorisation.
Only
a few of these options are available through other
online travel sites.
There
are no set-up costs for the system. The site also
provides a series of handy travel tools, such as visa
requirements, airport details, city guides, maps and
country biographies, links to sites providing location
details (maps and street addresses) for Visa, Mastercard
and American Express ATMs, hotels and travel insurance. |
