Jetstar is now giving
passengers booked on “JetSaver Light” and “JetSaver”
type airfares the ability to upgrade to seats with
“extra leg room”, namely the exit row seats. The
option is available on both domestic and short haul
international flights on Jetstar’s Airbus 320/321
aircraft for a surcharge of $30 and $60 one-way
respectively, where travellers will enjoy “20% more
seat pitch (the distance between seats) compared to
a regular Economy Class seat.” While JetSaver Light
and JetSaver fare clients flying on the low-cost
carriers’ Airbus 330 aircraft on long haul
international services will be offered 35% more seat
pitch if they choose to pre-book exit row seats
through Travelogic.
Since upgraded
seats are located in emergency exit rows Jetstar
specify a condition of booking is that the carrier
“has the sole discretion at check-in, or boarding,
to determine whether passengers “meet the
requirements to sit in an exit row”. The terms of
sale also state that pre-booked passengers who do
not meet their requirement “will be assigned a
regular Economy Class seat and will NOT receive a
refund for the additional amount paid”. Passengers
booked on JetFlex airfares will still have the
ability to access the extra leg room seats, which is
inclusive in their fare, but subject to
availability.
